Healthy Pantry List for Stress Free Cooking

One of the keys to a Stress Free Cooking experience is to keep the house well stocked so that you spend less time in the grocery store and more time cooking.

I would rather be home in my bunny slippers, listening to my favorite CD, sipping wine while preparing dinner for my family than standing in a take out or grocery store line.

 

Pantry:

Extra Virgin Olive

Balsamic, White Balsamic and Wine Vinegars

Sea Salt - fine grind

Garlic – fresh, whole heads

Onions

Shallots

Whole Black Pepper and a good quality pepper mill

All Purpose Flour

Yeast

Light Brown Sugar

Honey

Granulated Sugar

Pasta – a variety of shapes and sizes

Rice – Jasmine, Arborio or Carnaroli

Beans – canned, a variety to include: black beans, pink beans, chick peas, small white beans

Lentils – DePuy, Brown, & Red

Polenta/Corn Meal

Evaporated Skim Milk

Canned Broth and Stock – Chicken, Beef, Mushroom, Vegetable

Diced Tomatoes, Crushed Tomatoes, Tomato Paste

Chunk White Tuna

Anchovies – Rolled fillets with capers

Clams-canned baby clams and clam juice

Fruits – canned such as Mandarin Oranges, Apricots, Crushed Pineapple

Fruits – Dried such as Raisins, Cherries, Apricots

 

Refrigerator:

Low fat Cottage Cheese

Part Skim Ricotta

Crumbled Gorgonzola

Low fat plain yogurt

Light Cream Cheese Bricks also labeled Neufchatel, 1/3 less fat

Fresh Mozzarella

Parmigiano Reggiano

Eggs – Large (I use Eggland’s Best)

Mustard – variety

Capers

Vermouth – Dry White

Wine – Dry White

Lemons, Limes, Oranges

Salad Greens, A variety of types, textures, and colors

Fresh Baby Spinach

Carrots

Celery

Fresh Herbs – Basil, Oregano, Rosemary

Sun Dried Tomatoes – not in oil

Olives

 

Freezer:

Filled Pastas such as Tortellini, Agnolotti

Homemade Bread Crumbs

Artichokes

Baby Corn

Peas

String Beans – whole

Pearl Onions

Ground Beef and/or Buffalo

Turkey Cuts such as ground, breast, sausage

Chicken Breast, Boneless & Skinless, Individually Wrapped

Roasting Chickens 5-6 lb, washed and then frozen

Large Shrimp, Cooked, Peeled & Deveined

Large Shrimp, Uncooked, Peeled & Deveined

Individually frozen fish fillets such as whiting, halibut

Individually frozen center cut port chops

Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries

Pignoli Nuts

Crepes

 

Additional Items: Anything you love to cook with!
